Microneedling allows for controlled induction of the skin's self-repair mechanism by creating micro-"injuries" which trigger new collagen production.

***All our microneedling treatments include the use of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) to enhance results and healing.

Where is the procedure performed?

Microneedling is performed in the safety and comfort of our office with a sterile needle head.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure normally takes 30-60 minutes depending on the patient requirements and the size of the area being treated.

Microneedling

Pre-treatment

Here are a few notes on what you can do to prepare for your procedure:

  • Avoid direct sunlight/sunburn the day prior to your   procedure.  If you are sunburned you will need to reschedule.

  • If you are prone to fever blisters, please ask about getting a preventative prescription prior to the procedure.

  • Arrive with clean skin.  No cosmetics or sunscreen.

  • Wait at least 6 months after using Accutane before undergoing this procedure.  Accutane can impair wound healing and increase the risk of scarring.

  • Wait 48 hours before beginning microneedling if you have applied a self tanner or received a spray tan.

  • Discontinue the use of topical products containing Retinol or Vitamin A for 24 hours prior to your procedure.

Post-treatment

For best results, follow these guidelines:

  • The treated area may be pink and mildly inflamed (similar to the appearance of a mild sunburn) for 24-48 hours following your procedure.  Be sure to plan activities accordingly.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration.  Excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to the treated are.

  • Avoid the use of topical products not provided by our office.  This includes cosmetics, cleansers, sunscreens, moisturizers, etc.

  • Strictly avoid sun exposure.  You may resume the use of sunscreen the day following the procedure.  Continue to minimize sun exposure for one week following the procedure.
